Frequently Asked Questions

What are a Chiropractors qualifications?

Chiropractors must be registered with the Chiropractic Board of Australia, and meet the Board’s registration standards, in order to practise in Australia. To qualify as a chiropractor, practitioners must study at university for a minimum of 5 years and register with the Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency.

Do I need to get a referral from my GP?

No, you do not need a referral from your GP. However a GP will often recommend patients to see a chiropractor if they feel it will be beneficial.

Will the treatment hurt?

Chiropractic treatment is usually painless unless an area is inflamed, in which case treatment will be modified. Clicking or popping sounds while one of your joints is being adjusted is perfectly normal. Please talk to your chiropractor if you are concerned or have any questions about anything during or after treatment.

Can I claim on my health insurance?

In many cases health care insurance will cover chiropractic care. We recommend that you check your level of cover with your provider. Some popular health care providers are mentioned on our home page.
